The EMTF British Championships, Newcastle 25th March 2023

It was the long awaited EMTF British Championships in Newcastle on 25th March 2023. The first time since 2019, before the covid pandemic, that EMTF UK and foreign guests had all come together to compete. The event did not disappoint with over 100 competitors and high ranking Masters from Scotland, England, Wales, Germany and Holland in attendance.

The excitement began the day before with lots of social media activity from those making their way to Newcastle, posting on their progress. It was an early start on the day of the competition and Grand Master Kumar, head of EMTF UK addressed the gathered crowd with some inspiring words. Competition host, Master Dominique Stephen kicked off the day in the spirit of things to come by tasking the many EMTF Masters with handing out participation medals, in appreciation of all those that had taken the time and made the effort to be at the event.

Then it was down to business as the competing divisions kicked off with the EMTF Masters. A splendid display of Martial Arts awaited the judges and continued as a theme throughout the day. The competitors had fun making new friendships with the wider Tang Soo Do network and there were even some old friends returning to the nest after many years making the whole day feel much like a family reunion.
