Our first Competition of 2024 didn’t disappoint! With a total of 185 Competitors, this year’s Scottish Open was bigger than ever before with more than 60 extra entrants than in previous years. This event looks set to be THE one to attend so if you couldn’t make it this year, make sure you pop it in your diaries for next year!
Hosted by Master Dominique (DKMA) this year’s event was once again at the brilliant facility at Moray Sports Centre, Elgin. With 95 Divisions to get through, some very careful planning was needed to ensure the event ran smoothly.
The Championships was attended by Grandmasters and senior Masters KJN Klaus Troggerman, KJN Erin Kristensen, Master Jan De-Vry and Master Kelly Murphy.
More clubs and associations than ever before travelled to the small city of Elgin to compete and soak up the atmosphere, including: Scottish Clubs HIGHLAND SBD, BKMAS, ITSD, DKMA, EMA, RYSE, KEITH & HUNTLY and some from further afield including Holland and Denmark HWA RANG, TTF, NTMB, DANISH MOO DUK KWAN. And with the first ever spinning medals on offer for the winners it was down to business!

Open Belt Sparring Divisions were included for the first time and these categories were fiercely contended by all! The results for these were:
Blackbelt and above men – Ollie Suter TTF
Blackbelt and above women – Erin Morris DKMA
Gup men – Eser Metin NTMB
Gup women – Arin Huseiin NTMB
A Team Sparring category was also included this year for the first time, won by Team Celtics (Rhys Burrows TTF, Josh Prosser TTF, Erin Morris DKMA).

A throughly enjoyable tournament with some exciting new categories! This event looks set to keep growing and Scotland Tang Soo Do could not be happier!
Tang Soo!
