Students from several Scotland Tang Soo Do clubs came together this May and headed to the UK Open Invitational Championships, hosted by the Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation in Cardiff, Wales to compete for Team Scotland.

The annual tournament was held at the NIAC Campus, in Cyncoed, Cardiff. Competitors from across the World are invited to take part and show off their Martial Arts skills. Scotland Tang Soo took its largest team to date over to Wales for the occasion, with 16 competitors, plus coaches Master Kelly Murphy and Michelle Raisborough, along with competing Master Scott Sweeney.

Team Scotland faired very well, with fantastic results and plenty of medals brought back to Scotland.

Master Scott, Pete, Jemma, Jak, Addison, Ailish & Craig also did Team Scotland proud in their divisions, narrowly missing out on the medal positions amidst some very tough competition.

As always a very enjoyable event, followed by what is becoming the traditional annual STSD trip to ‘Got Beef’ for a social, burger and few cocktails (for the adults). A trip back to the hotel for further socialising and a wee bit of room swapping as some of the girls in the team decided on, what is again becoming an STSD tradition with a ‘Sleepover’ and ordering of yet more food! (Where do they put it all?).

We are already looking forward to next year’s event and (hopefully) taking an even bigger team!
